Idriss is Professor Emeritus of Civil Engineering at the University of California at Davis (UCD) and an independent consulting geotechnical engineer.  Professor Idriss has conducted extensive post-earthquake investigations for ten earthquakes since the Great Alaska Earthquake of 1964.  He has developed or co-developed many of the procedures currently used to evaluate the behavior of soils and structures during earthquakes, and has authored or co-authored some 300 technical papers and research reports on topics related to geotechnical earthquake engineering.
